Education Industry Leader John A. Palmucci
 

John A. Palmucci, Vice President, Administration and Finance, Treasurer, Loyola College - John A. Palmucci has been Vice President for Administration and Finance, Treasurer at Loyola College since 1994. He serves as the College's Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Treasurer. Prior to his current position, he was Vice President of Fiscal Affairs at Merrimack College from 1980 to 1994. For eight years prior to his tenure at Merrimack College, he was Registrar and Dean of Administration at Northern Essex Community College. Mr. Palmucci also held a variety of positions at Northeastern University for six years including Dean, Undergraduate Program and Assistant Dean, College of Business Administration. He was awarded the EACUBO Distinguished Service Award in 2000 and the NACUBO Distinguished Business Officer Award in 2003. Mr. Palmucci has his B.S. in Business Management and his M.B.A. from Northeastern University.
 

 

Education Industry Leader Robert L. Caret, Ph.D. – President, Towson University
 

Robert L. Caret, Ph.D. – President, Towson University
Robert Caret became the 12th president of Towson University on July 1, 2003. As a former faculty member, dean, executive vice president and provost of Towson University, Caret served at Towson for 21 years before assuming the presidency of San Jose State University of the California State University System in 1995. Upon returning to Maryland, Dr. Caret became a founding member of the Maryland Business Council, serves as a member of the board of directors of the CollegeBound Foundation and was appointed to the Governor’s Workforce Investment Board in 2005. He was elected for a three-year term to the Board of Directors of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and will also serve as the AASCU representative to the American Council on Education (ACE) Board during the same period. Dr. Caret received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of New Hampshire and his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and mathematics from Suffolk University. He has also been the recipient of several honorary doctoral degrees.

Martha A. Smith, Ph.D., President, Anne Arundel Community College (AACC)
Martha Smith has been serving in her present capacity since 1994. Previously, she was president of Dundalk Community College for seven years. Dr. Smith promotes excellence and innovation in education as a member of the board of directors of the League for Innovation in the Community College and as the Governor's appointee to the Education Commission of the States. Under Dr. Smith's leadership the National Council for Continuing Education and Training honored AACC with its 2006 Exemplary Program Award in Workforce Development and the West County Chamber of Commerce named AACC its 2006 nonprofit organization of the year. In 2001 the National Alliance of Business named AACC community college of the year. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Slippery Rock State University, a master’s degree in education from the University of Hawaii and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Northern Colorado.
 

 

Education Industry Leader Murray “Ray” Hoy, Ed.D., Esq., President, Wor-Wic Community College
 

Murray “Ray” Hoy, Ed.D., Esq., President, Wor-Wic Community College
Ray Hoy was appointed president of Wor-Wic Community College in July 2000. Prior to his current position, he was executive vice president of Chesapeake College for three years, and vice president for administrative services for eight years. He has over 30 years of experience in community college administration. Dr. Hoy is a community college graduate who went on to earn a bachelor’s degree, two master’s degrees, a law degree and a doctorate. Hoy is President of the Association Maryland Community College Presidents, serves on Maryland’s K-16 Council and is vice-chairman of the Peninsula Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees, and a member of the executive committee of the Maryland Hospital Association, the executive board of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, the Tri-County Health Council, the Wicomico County Visioning Committee and other area councils and committees.
