About the Bioscience Industry Initiative

   
The Bioscience Steering Committee began meeting in May 2005. Dr. Wayne T. Hockmeyer, Chairman, MedImmune, Inc, and President, MedImmune Ventures, is the GWIB bioscience industry leader and chair of the steering committee. Steering committee membership includes 96 leaders from thirty-five bioscience companies, twenty government and education agencies, four non-profit organizations. Eleven of the largest bioscience companies in Maryland are represented on the steering committee. The committee, though four subcommittees, is conducting research and preparing reports about Industry Definition and Economic Impact, High Demand Occupation, Skill Standards and Workforce issues.
